HELPING TO ENSURE OUR SCHOOLS ARE SAFE, SECURE, AND SUPPORTED

We are a group of dedicated volunteers who prioritize the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff in Lynchburg City Schools.

Thank you to everyone that donated to our initial project! We have reached our goal and progress will begin soon. New projects are on the horizon and we will be looking for supporters as we are determined to create a safe place for all LCS students, one school at a time. Contact us if you have any ideas, questions, or would like to be involved.

Lynchburg’s schools are wonderful and happy learning spaces that support every child in our school community. We are a group of community members stepping forward and working together in partnership with our school division to evolve with the realities of today. We understand our responsibility as community members to support Lynchburg’s schools, and we call on our entire community to come together and join us.

The recent nationwide rise in school shootings significantly threatens the safety and well-being of our most vulnerable community members; our kids, and those charged to care for them.

Through community conversations,  collaboration, and crowd funding, this volunteer-led task force aims to enhance our schools’ ability to keep students, staff, and families safe from outside threats while they’re supposed to be engaged in learning.

By supporting an even safer learning environment, we can advance academic success, emotional well-being, and the overall health and safety of students, faculty, and staff while promoting peace of mind for parents.

EVERY SECOND COUNTS

While school systems already have safeguards in place to deter those who intend to harm our kids from entering the schools, fragile glass doors and windows could still pose a risk. 3M has identified and created a solution that will increase the time it takes for a would-be perpetrator to enter the building, effectively decreasing their ability to gain entry. This added defense mechanism allows those inside the building to recognize the threat and take appropriate actions, getting everyone to safety.

“School safety isn't just a policy or a practice, it's a fundamental necessity for every student's well-being and academic success. We must continually work to ensure we protect and preserve this basic right for our students and staff.”

“Every student deserves an engaging, inspiring, and nurturing learning environment where they feel safe to create, explore, and cultivate their dreams. Lynchburg City Schools is grateful for the overwhelming community support to keep our students and staff safe and prevent the emotional, physical, and mental harm caused by acts of violence targeting schools.”
